Final Concert Donation Tally & Other Fun Facts

I am blown away and pleased to report what an amazing and generous neighborhood we have!

Here a quick history of net funds raised over 4 years of this fun community building event:

2016:  $2,500 for Craig Chamberlin's plum fund account
2017:  $1,000 for Valley Outreach (bad weather canceled the second half of the concert)
2018:  $5,374 for Community Thread

(Drum roll please)

2019:  $8,192 for Valley Outreach!!!

Total funds raised this year were $11,692 which included corporate sponsorship funds to cover the cost of the band.

A few more fun facts:
  • Anchored up boat count this year = 57
    • Up from 49 last year
    • Does not count transient boats who came in/out and never anchored up.
  • Of the $1137 in cash collected at halftime during the concert, $40 of it was rescued by 2 very brave women who dove in the water when a $20 dollar bill came out of our butterfly net on 2 separate occasions.
    • Problem solved for next year, so no worries going forward.
    • One of the two women was completely dry when she jumped in.
    • They were both given "10" scores for their style and execution of said dives.
  • Please be on the lookout for an updated "Carnelian Cares" Facebook page.
    • Please share your concert photos here!

THANK YOU FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS for your amazing generosity!

THANK YOU SPONSORS for giving us maximum donation potential!
  • Lynskey & Clark (Bob & Chris Clark)
  • Morrow Partners (Wally & Karen Nelson)
  • John K and Margaret A Ogren Foundation (Erik & Laura Ogren)
  • MFC Properties (Bruce & Christine Miller)
  • Cornerstone Surveying (Dan & AnnMarie Thurmes)
  • Performance Pool (Mike & Kathy Pearson)

Concert update - last chance to donate to Valley Outreach

WOW!  Was Sunday awesome or what?  We counted a record 57 boats anchored up at once.  This doesn't count the folks who were in/out for just part of the concert.  The community participation continues to grow and I think we've got families that plan on this social event now.  I love it!

If you haven't yet donated, we are down to 2 ways to donate by tomorrow:

1.  PayPal  https://www.paypal.com/pools/c/8gL1EXNFpq

2.  Online to Valley Outreach  https://valleyoutreachmn.org/donate-now/  **PLEASE PUT CARNELIAN CARES IN THE NOTES SECTION**

As of this post, we have $880 in our Pay Pal account, and approximately $2500 collected in cash & checks.  I have not yet received an update from Valley Outreach, but I know many people used their website to donate on line.  I think that number is going to be big.

As promised, I will have the total donation amount posted on Friday.

See you Sunday on the lake!

Our forecast looks great for Sunday! Thanks for the weather prayers and no-rain dances. Here is a basic reminder of the details: Sunday 8/4 2:00pm - 5:00pm West side shoreline of the lake - look for the signs. This is an anchor-up event - no access to shoreline or private property. The most important part? All donations benefit Valley Outreach! If you plan to give online or send a check directly to Valley Outreach PLEASE remember to write "Carnelian Cares" in the notes section or the memo line of your check. We want to be able to celebrate the correct total when the final tally is in. I've received a few paypal payments already and a few checks mailed to me as well. That works really slick from our end of things, and THANKS for donating early! If you are prepared to give cash or check on the day of the event, we will be sending a jet ski around about halfway through the concert (3:30ish) to gather those. Deadline to donate will be Wednesday 8/7. I will have a total for you all posted by Friday 8/9. A neighborhood challenge for you all: Every year we've done this, we've increased our donation amount incrementally. Our goal this year is $10k, especially since the band is corporately sponsored (see previous posts). Last year we raised close to $8500, and after paying the band we were able to donate over $5k. I believe we can reach this goal of $10k for an organization that has served our neighbors in need for over 35 years. So what do you all say? Challenge accepted? Let's do this! See you Sunday! https://carnelianconcert.blogspot.com/ www.valleyoutreachmn.org

Full Corporate Sponsorship Achieved

We have some exciting news for our upcoming concert!

We have reached FULL Corporate sponsorship of our event.  The following local residents and business owners have joined forces to cover the full cost of the band so that ALL of our donations will go straight to Valley Outreach.  Please consider these local businesses when you are in need of their services (and thank them when you see them out on the lake):

*Lynskey & Clark Real Estate
*Cornerstone Land Surveying
*OSI Physical Therapy
*Performance Pool & Spa
*MFC Properties (commercial real estate)
*John K and Margaret A Ogren Foundation
*Anonymous

There will be another announcement next week on HOW you can give.  We will have multiple ways of giving to Valley Outreach.  While they are most notably known for their food shelf efforts in the Valley, they provide other services as well.  If you want to know more about their organization, please visit:  www.valleyoutreachmn.org

The weather is HOT!  The water is WARM!  Let's continue to turn up the heat and make this our best year ever and give generously to Valley Outreach who has served our community for 35 years.
